Re: Or Ami Tapestry Commission

Dear Helen,

I just want you to know how grateful I personally am to you, and also to express the feelings of the entire Fine Arts Committee.

Yesterday as I walked through the lobby I again was entranced by the glorious tapestry you created for Congregation Or Ami. It really is a sight to behold. People have been coming up to me in places outside of the synagogue to tell me how beautiful they think the art piece is. I've been stopped in restaurants, Home Depot, BJs, and, of course, in the building itself following services.

I wish you only good health for the future and a happy Hanukkah this year.
May you and your art always bring as much joy to others  as you've brought to the Or Ami Community.

With warmest wishes and love,
Paula

Re: Showing of Film CATCH A DREAMER

WHAT DOES ART HAVE TO DO WITH COURAGE? – CATCH A DREAMER,
AN ART DOCUMENTARY ON THE 10 RIGHTS OF CHILDREN
presenting film maker, and international artist
Helen Webber

Helen Webber creates public art for expressing the hope and exuberance of the human spirit. With a masters degree in art education from the Rhode Island School of Design, specializing in art therapy, with studies at Columbia University School of Social Work, majoring in social group work, and working in that field for over 5 years.  She has had a lifelong career creating site-specific art in many media from fabric, wood, glass mosaic murals, prints and books in jubilant colors and human largess which elevates viewers. She commissioned by major institutions, organizations, hospitals and universities throughout the nation. “Catch a Dreamer” originated as a series of large-scale 5' x 7' Tapestries, rendered to celebrate "The 10 Rights of the Child" as determined by the United Nations. The tapestries were first exhibited in Manhattan's Burlington Building and then subsequently in medical facilities and educational institutions, most recently Texas A&M Universal. The film, “Catch a Dreamer”, created and narrated by Helen Webber is an “educational masterpiece” on the state of children in the world today and  the call to action, featuring four child-advocates who have accomplished great work for the benefit of other children.  It is a film that opens possibilities and touches hearts. Her accompanying book is also called Catch a Dreamer.
